NYPD Blue Update ABC and the ABC Affiliates Association have urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to set aside a $1.4 million fine against the 52 ABC stations that showed a 2003 episode of NYPD Blue. Last month, the FCC proposed the indecency fine against the Walt Disney Company's ABC Network. The episode in question shows a woman's naked buttocks in a scene where a young boy walks in on the nude woman taking a shower. The agency said it had received "numerous complaints" after the show was shown on 52 ABC stations in the Central and Mountain time zones at 9 p.m., in violation of federal restrictions against broadcasting "obscene material" between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. In its appeal, ABC stated that "Never before has the commission deemed the depiction of naked buttocks 'patently offensive' unless presented in a highly sexualized or scatological fashion ... There is nothing sexual or lewd or prurient about the scene." Stay tuned. View the screen shots that prompted the FCC decison. Read more and watch the NYPD Blue scene.

London Underground officials deemed it offensive to passengers, forcing the Royal Academy to try to find a "less naked" alternative image. A spokesman for the Royal Academy said,"We don't have a version B where she's got her clothes on." Read more...
