Woman Promotes Nude Travel to New Zealand

Kay Hannam of Marlborough, New Zealand, is on a mission to sell New Zealand as the perfect travel destination for those who prefer au naturel vacations. Currently, she traveled to the Netherlands to promote nudism in New Zealand at a tourism and travel show there. Ms Hannam, an avid naturist who says she feels more comfortable without clothes, told interviewers that many nudist friends had been to New Zealand without even realizing that there were clothing-optional opportunities.

Marlborough Chamber of Commerce executive Tim Leslie said that Ms. Hannam's trip could have positive results. "Naturism seems to be a growing niche in the tourism sector. Anything that brings in foreign exchange must be good." Read more ...

Dear Abby Defends Nude Teen

In a recent Dear Abby column, "Clothes-Minded" wrote to ask Abby's advice about a neighbor's 16-year-old son who prefers to walk around nude in his home. Clothes-Minded says he has known the children in the family their entire lives and has never seen any of the other family members naked. According to the letter, the boy gets up in the morning, eats cereal, and watches sports all while nude and in front of family members who remain clothed. Clothes-Minded asked: "Is it normal for a 16-year-old boy to walk around the house naked, in plain view of family members?"

Dear Abby's response: "Dear Clothes-Minded: Standards regarding nudity vary from family to family, and obviously the Smiths are casual and open-minded on the subject ... Because he has matured sufficiently that his nudity now makes you uncomfortable, you should hang curtains that face the Smiths'  kitchen..." Read more...

Naked News Expands Market

Toronto-based Naked News says it is expanding its foreign language coverage in three different markets in an attempt to gain a worldwide audience, reports The Star. Newscasts will now be available in Spanish, Italian and Korean. Naked News is already available in Japanese.

Naked News first aired in 1999 featuring anchors who deliver the news while nude. President David Warga says the program's goal is to promote a more positive image of female beauty by emphasizing the intelligence of their anchors while delivering information. The multilingual broadcasts will be available for distribution online and through mobile providers. Read more...

Fire Chief To Lose Job Over Nude Photo

A suspended Umatilla, Florida, fire chief lost his job over a photo he sent of an accident victim with her breast partially exposed. Umatilla Fire Chief Richard Shirk was suspended over the incident in November and told officials he e-mailed images of the accident and the victim, who later died, to representatives of three nearby fire departments for training purposes and did not realize her breast was exposed. Shirk was hired last October and was the first paid fire chief in the small town located near Orlando. Officials said Shirk was being offered three months pay in exchange for his resignation.
