Catch the Wave

This weekend kicks off Nude Recreation Week, a time to experience the stress-free liberation of nudism. The annual week-long event will be held July 9-15 this year, and gives first-time nudists the chance to try clothes-free recreation at home or at one of the many AANR-affiliated clubs that open their doors to the public during this week.

AANR and The Naturist Society are teaming up this summer to encourage people to Catch the Wave to Naturism, this year's theme. AANR clubs are offering a wide variety of activities such as open houses, sports events, poker tournaments, canuding trips, art shows and much more in celebration of Nude Recreation Week. For more information or to find an event near you, click here or call the AANR office at 800/TRY-NUDE (800/879-6833).

Vote For the True Springfield

The Simpsons have lived in Springfield for nearly two decades. But which Springfield? Voting has begun on the USA Today website to choose the city most worthy of hosting the premiere of "The Simpsons Movie" on July 26.

Fourteen Springfields across the country have submitted a short film and are competing for the title of the "true Springfield," but only one entry features a nudist, is home to a nudist resort and mentions the American Association for Nude Recreation--Springfield, Oregon.

Further cementing the fact that Springfield, Oregon, is the true Springfield, creator Matt Groening is from Oregon. Springfield, Oregon, is also home to The Willamettans nudist resort, the hosts of this year's AANR Convention in August. The tie-in is that in the upcoming film, Bart shows full-frontal nudity as he skateboards nude through town on a dare from his father, Homer. Watch the video clips and Cast your vote. Hurry! Voting ends July 9. The winner will be announced on or about July 10.

Cape Cod Volunteers Clean Up

The coalition of volunteers arrived at the Cape Cod National Seashore in June for the 11th annual Cape Cod Cleanup. Flags and banners representing the Naturist Action Committee (NAC), The Naturist Society (TNS), AANR, The Sunchasers, Sandy Terraces, and the Bare Bottom Beach Club fluttered in the morning breeze.

Officials from the various organizations met with the chief ranger. Then 75 volunteers headed to the beaches and trails. The volunteers’ hard work produced three dump trucks full of trash, followed by a cookout provided by donations from various organizations, clubs and individual donors. These continuing good faith events are making a difference. The practice of good beach etiquette will continue to strengthen commuity relations.

The Duck Stops Here

AANR is pleased to announce one of its newest member benefits. AFLAC insurance and AANR have an agreement that makes two insurance plans--one that covers accidents and one that provides supplemental cancer coverage--available to AANR members at special member savings. AFLAC is a credible name in the insurance industry, and the company's advertisements are instantly recognizable due to the quacking duck that appears when people are discussing their insurance needs. To find out more about AFLAC and how you, as an AANR member, can save, log in to the Member Benefits section of aanr.com and click on Discount Codes to retrieve your discount code.
