Newsweek Features Nudist's Story

The June 18 issue of Newsweek featured a full-page article titled "I'm Happiest Dressed In My Birthday Suit" in its My Turn column. Author Robert Denker tells of his first-time experience on a nude beach, how nudity relieves stress and his belief that allowing public nudity would erase pornography.

Denker also offers some amusing reasons for becoming a nudist. Among them: People could zip through airport security, and fans wouldn't have to worry when players are traded to different sports teams because they would no longer be identified by their uniforms. Read more...

A link to Classen's personal website was inadvertantly attached to an email from a student regarding a school matter. The student's parent discovered the photo and filed a complaint. Read more...

Nude Painting Graces Oregon Hillside

Oregon artist Samuel Clemens is in the process of completing his latest mountainside painting in a grassy field near Highway 20 in Newport. Last summer, Clemens reproduced the Mona Lisa in the same area which often brought traffic to a standstill.

This time, Clemens' work is a reclining nude based on a drawing he made of his wife shortly after they met. While the painting is not yet complete, the head, shoulders and one arm can be seen and measure 60 by 40 feet. Clemens is working to add another 100 feet, and says the painting will be tasteful.
