Catch The Wave To Naturism

It's not too early to start thinking about Nude Recreation Week. AANR and The Naturist Society are teaming up this summer to encourage Americans to take off their clothes during the annual Nude Recreation Week celebration, July 9-15. This year's theme is Catch the Wave to Naturism.

Nude Recreation Week gives first-timers the chance to try clothes-free recreation at one of the many AANR-affiliated clubs that open their doors to the public during this week. For information on events at an AANR club near you, click on Nude Recreation Week Activities.

Nudity Could Help Insurance Rates

In case you were looking for another reason to get naked, Go Travel News reports that being weighed without your clothes could reduce the cost of insurance premiums. According to BestDealInsurance, being nude on the scales can make the difference between being judged "standard weight" or obese. Read more at Insurance.

Nude Balloon Hovers Over Milan

A 70-foot floating sculpture of a naked man has been seen hovering above Milan's Renaissance Palazzina Appiana this week, reports the Citizen-Times. The balloon self-portrait by Polish artist Pawel Althamer has been drawing stares, amusement and some complaints about exposing children to nudity. The balloon is part of Althamer's show "One of Many" which includes video and other sculpture self-portraits.

The show's sponsor credited the balloon for attracting over 3,000 visitors in the first three days, adding that since Italians are surrounded by Renaissance masterpieces, they are used to nudity in public venues. Americans are perhaps another story. "This wouldn't fly in the U.S.," said an American tourist observing the show. Read more at Balloon Sculpture.
