Bart Simpson Does Nude Scene The Simpsons are about to make Hollywood history. Not only is the popular series the longest running animated TV show and second-longest running sitcom in U.S. history, the new Simpsons movie will be the first film--animated or not--to have a full-frontal nude scene without being slapped with an R rating. The Simpsons Movie, premiering in July, features Bart skateboarding nude through Springfield on a dare from his father Homer. The nude scene is creating plenty of buzz from major media venues such as Newsweek to college campuses. Although the big-screen exposure is a first for the Simpsons, they are no strangers to nudity. The cover of 1991's The Simpsons's Uncensored Family Album features a nude Bart on a bearskin rug. Bart also appeared nude on the cover of Rolling Stone in a recreation of Nirvana's Nevermind album cover. Plus, the show has aired over 200 different scenes of implied or pixilated nudity during its nearly two-decade run, according to the Leader-Post. Read more at Simpsons.
Principal Suspended Over Nude Photo A Canadian school principal in the town of Harrison Hot Springs has been suspended with pay after a parent discovered a nude photo of him on his personal website. The photo was taken several years ago when principal Mark Classen and his wife visited a nude beach in Australia while on vacation. The parent found the photo after a link to Classen's family website was inadvertently attached to an email reply regarding a school matter, reports CNews. Elan Nootebos, president of the parent advisory council, said that the parent looked through hundreds of travel photos on Classen's website before discovering the nude photo, the only nude shot out of about 500 photos. The figures, based on sculptor Antony Gormley's own body, will be displayed at locations such as the National Theatre and the Shell Centre. Titled Event Horizon, it will be one of the largest urban public art commissions ever installed. Recently, Gormley's display of 100 cast-iron nude figures were displayed on Crosby Beach, Mersyside. Nude Sculptures Relocated A controversial nude sculpture that featured two women and one man in a circle of humanity was removed from a roundabout sculpture park in Loveland, Colorado, at a cost of $8,500 after residents were concerned about children viewing the sculpture. Now the City Council in Brighton, Michigan, is considering moving a bronze sculpture of a nude man from an outdoor art display to a less visible spot. The life-sized sculpture by artist Jay Holland, titled "Decision Pending," finished second in the art contest, but caused controversy from the beginning. The piece will likely be replaced with the crowd favorite "The Children," bronzed heads of a girl and boy, reports the Lansing State Journal. Read more at Colorado and Michigan. |
