Nude Cruisers Set Record

Holland America's efforts on behalf of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation were well served with the "On Deck For The Cure" walk held during the recent Bare Necessities nude cruise. All ships within the Holland America fleet hold these walks on every cruise, encouraging guests to join them in the fight against breast cancer. Since its inception last year, Holland America has helped raise over $250,000 for the Komen Foundation.

Until recently, the record for guest participation on the Maasdam was 357. Bare Necessities nude cruisers in February broke the previous record with 801 entrants, showing that nudists get behind causes they are passionate about. The record not only broke the Maasdam's previous record, but also held the record for all Holland America ships.

Guest enthusiasm was so contagious that even the ship's staff and crew participated, walking side by side with nude cruisers to help Bare Necessities raise over $12,000 for On Deck For The Cure. Visit Bare Necessities for more information.

Nudists Show Economic Clout

Pasco County, Florida, nudists have come up with a unique way to demonstrate their economic impact in the area, the St. Petersburg Times reports. Beginning March 15, a campaign to spend $2 bills will remind local businesses that nudists reside there, and contribute to the community, in greater numbers than ever.

Pasco County is a major destination for nudist residents and travelers. The Pasco County tourism office's website promotes four major nudist destinations--Caliente, Paradise Lakes Resort, Lake Como Family Nudist Resort, and Gulf Coast Resort.

Local businesses can expect a major influx of $2 bills during the month-long campaign. The Sun Trust Bank branch in Land O'Lakes has ordered 1,000 $2 bills. Other area banks are expected to follow suit. Read more at Pasco County Nudists.

Getting Buff in the Buff

Those in Amsterdam who really want to be buff can join training sessions for nudists, reports CNN.com. The Sunday morning sessions were added due to popular demand. Gym manager Patrick de Man said that the training sessions are for naturists, and "anyone who shows up just to ogle will be thrown out." The staff remain clothed during the "nudfit" sessions, which have elicited a strong response both positive and negative. Read more at Nude Workouts.

MSNBC.com took a poll on their website asking "Would you work out naked in a gym?" While so far 52% have opted out, 31% said "Absolutely!" Another 16% said maybe, if sanitary conditions were followed. Cast your vote and view the results at Nude Poll.

Dear Abby Sets Record Straight About Nudism

Dear Abby, who not too long ago ago, advised a wife to be open to joining her husband at a nudist beach or resort, once again sets the record straight regarding nudism. A letter writer, "Startled," complained that a neighbor frequently walks out to his car, stands in front of his glass door, and sits at his computer with the door open while nude. Startled wrote that "it's not against the law to be a nudist," but that the neighbor's behavior was "unsettling."

Dear Abby, also known as Jean Phillips, who took over writing the column after her mother's death, replied that the neighbor appears to be an exhibitionist, not a nudist. Phillips' response: "The difference between an exhibitionist and a naturist--someone who enjoys going to clothing-optional resorts--is the exhibitionist flashes to get sexual pleasure from shocking people. This is not true of the naturist."
