Ilsley Visits Laguna del Sol

This week, Ilsley stays in California, and visits Laguna Del Sol in Wilton. The beautiful clothes-free resort offers a great escape form the stresses of everyday life. The 25-acre lake and surrounding nature trails are home to all kinds of birds and animals. The facilities at the resort are all modern and first-class. They include a restaurant, clubhouse/lounge, tennis and volleyball courts, three pools, two spas, and a fitness center. Laguna del Sol is located just 20 miles from Sacramento, and, yet seems a world away.

The Ilsley is a traveling trophy commissioned to commemorate AANR's 75th Anniversary as the credible voice of reason for nude recreation in North America. Ilsley is traveling to nearly 40 AANR clubs and resorts across the U.S. and Canada. Throughout his tour, special themed events and celebrations are planned at host clubs along the way.

The award is named for the late Rev. Ilsley Boone, the founder and first Executive Director of AANR's predecessor, the American Sunbathing Association. Boone is perhaps best remembered as the flamboyant clergyman who served as plaintiff in the 1958 case of Sunshine and Health v. Summerfield. That case went all the way to the United States Supreme Court and established, once and for all, First Amendment protection for nudist publications.

Ilsley ends his tour in August 2006 at the Association's 75th Anniversary Convention at Deanza Springs Resort outside San Diego, California.

You can track Ilsley's weekly progress on his year-long tour right here on the AANR website.

Streaking Gets Game

German publisher dtp will release a new football experience for the gaming sports fan with the game Flitzer for PCs. Flitzer is the German term for streaking soccer/football fans. In Flitzer the player takes control of a nude soccer/football fan and tires to navigate him through all the pitfalls of the stadium. Security personnel and policemen are in his way and try to bring the player's nudist fun to a stop. Various obstacles and special items also threaten to trip up the streaker. If the player manages to perform daring stunts and combos, he will get rewarded with the high score awarded by roaring fans.

Flitzer was developed by the German company Handy Games and released for mobile devices. The PC version will be released in May 2006 to coincide with the World Cup, the biggest soccer event of the year.

Beach Cleanup on Assateague

Registration is now open for volunteers who want to help the Friends of Assateague State Park with this year's spring beach cleanup on Saturday April 22. This is a great opportunity for nudists to show how much we care about this wonderful beach area and reinforce through community service AANR's position as the credible voice of reason for nude recreation.

Volunteers participating in the beach cleanup and those showing their support will receive a bright yellow T-shirt that reads "Caution! Clothes May Come Off Without Warning!" Those participating in the cleanup will need to wear the shirts as the event is clothing not optional.

As always, AANR will provide bottled water, juice and snacks. Last year's cleanup was a huge success. Join the Friends of Assateague and make this year's cleanup the best one yet!

For early registration or directions to Assateague Island State Park, e-mail Patricia Orner at the AANR office. AANR members can download the flyer in the Government Affairs section of this website.

Phone Habits Reveal Naked Truth

Research commissioned by the Post Office in the UK reveals that up to a third of telephone users in Britain make calls in the nude. Forty percent of men admitted to talking naked and 27% of women say they are nude when on the phone. Results were based on a survey of 1,500 telephone users. The research also showed that people were so busy that one in 10 people admitted to wandering off and leaving the caller talking to themselves.
