Ilsley Arrives in Georgia The end of the Thanksgiving weekend saw Ilsley traveling to Serendipity Park. The family-friendly resort in Cleveland, Georgia, is open year-round, and provides a variety of activities for all seasons. The pool and clubhouse complex is surrounded by wildlife, wildflowers, foliage, rolling hills, woodlands with many varieties of trees, springs, and a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Serendipity Park is near many attractions, hiking trails, white water rafting, waterfalls, and motels and restaurants. The Ilsley is a traveling trophy commissioned to commemorate AANR's 75th Anniversary as the credible voice of reason for nude recreation in North America. Ilsley is traveling to nearly 40 AANR clubs and resorts across the U.S. and Canada. Throughout his tour, special themed events and celebrations are planned at host clubs along the way. The award is named for the late Rev. Ilsley Boone, the founder and first Executive Director of AANR's predecessor, the American Sunbathing Association. Boone is perhaps best remembered as the flamboyant clergyman who served as plaintiff in the 1958 case of Sunshine and Health v. Summerfield. That case went all the way to the United States Supreme Court and established, once and for all, First Amendment protection for nudist publications. Ilsley ends his tour in August 2006 at the Association's 75th Anniversary Convention at Deanza Springs Resort outside San Diego, California. You can track Ilsley's weekly progress on his year-long tour right here on the AANR website.

Travelites Founder Published in Shanghai Times A recent article in the Shanghai Daily entitled The naked truth: Nude isn't rude, dude was written by Travelites founder Cheri Alexander. Alexander's piece is a response to the article "Drop Naked Marriage Photo" that appeared in the publication in November. Alexander credits nudity with lower stress levels, bringing families together, and lowering the divorce rate among nudist couples. She says nudism is her way of "recharging my personal batteries" and has been proven to lessen aggression, tension, anxiety, and lower blood pressure. Yet Alexander is quick to state that nudists are as varied as people everywhere. But it is the great equalizer, allowing participants to communicate on the basis of what's inside a person rather than be judged by appearance. As Alexander says, "Nude when possible, clothed when practical. The article has since appeared in a variety of regional publications. Read more and see the "Naked Marriage" photo at Articles. |
