Ilsley Travels to Paradise Valley

Ilsley has arrived at Paradise Valley, an AANR resort in Dawsonville, Georgia. The resort is a blend of upscale amenities in a natural retreat-like setting at the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains.

The Ilsley is a traveling trophy commissioned to commemorate AANR's 75th Anniversary as the credible voice of reason for nude recreation in North America. Ilsley is traveling to nearly 40 AANR clubs and resorts across the U.S. and Canada. Throughout his tour, special themed events and celebrations are planned at host clubs along the way.

The award is named for the late Rev. Ilsley Boone, the founder and first Executive Director of AANR's predecessor, the American Sunbathing Association. Boone is perhaps best remembered as the flamboyant clergyman who served as plaintiff in the 1958 case of Sunshine and Health v. Summerfield. That case went all the way to the United States Supreme Court and established, once and for all, First Amendment protection for nudist publications.

Ilsley ends his tour in August 2006 at the Association's 75th Anniversary Convention at Deanza Springs Resort outside San Diego, California.

You can track Ilsley's weekly progress on his year-long tour right here on the AANR website.

Gardens Open For Nude Walks

Following in the footsteps of the Viennese museum that recently scheduled nude art viewings, a UK country garden has opened for a naturist day, allowing visitors to explore the grounds au naturel.Ian Pollard, a naturist since his twenties and who owns Abbey House Gardens with his wife, Barbara, said visitors have compared it to the Garden of Eden. The couple say they informed police and neighbors in advance about the event and have received no objections.

Nudist Group Bares All at Photo Exhibit

A recent article in the Houston Chronicle details the Hill Country Nudists' private viewing of new George Krause photos in Austin, Texas. Club President Steve Bosbach arranged the nude viewing of life-sized richly detailed nudes by well-known artist Krause. Bosbach said that interest in the event was high since the club has several artists, including an instructor and several professional and amateur photographers. One member went through Krause's program at the University of Houston.

The gallery served wine, and the guests socialized and discussed the photos. The viewing highlighted the liberating effect of nudism as well as promoted the body acceptance of the lifestyle while providing an evening of fun and art. Krause's how runs through September 10 at the dberman Gallery, 1701 Guadalupe St., in Austin. See Art Show.

Nude Actors to Perform in Kansas

Not to be outdone in the cultural arena, actors in Topeka, Kansas, will bare it all in September at a city-owned theater when members of the Lake Edun Foundation stages a series of plays to promote the nudist lifestyle. The foundation promoted the plays in their August newsletter under the headline "No Sex, No Violence...Only Nudity." The winning scripts explore the social aspects of nudity and its expectations. Playwrights who submitted scripts weren't required to include on-stage nudity, but the use of nudity was encouraged if it advanced the story. Auditions for the plays begins soon and will be performed September 24-October 1 at the Topeka Performing Arts Center's Hussey Playhouse. Read more at Nude Actors.
